The Walt Disney Company
Walt Disney World College Program-Main Entrance Operations
I grew up at Walt Disney World. Living less than two hours away gave my family ample opportunities to visit a place full of magic and happiness. I have so many fond memories there, and after my time working for Starbucks, another top customer service focused company, the College Program was a no brainer for me.
At this this time, the first semester of my senior year, I was a semester ahead, making it possible to take the semester off for this opportunity. I had declared my Communication major and was in turn put into a role with Disney that allowed first hand, face-to-face communication every second of my shift.
I worked in the Main Entrance of EPCOT, and in this role I was the first and last person that our guests saw when entering and leaving the park. This is something that I held very special and always in the for-front of my mind. During the start of my program was also the start of the new touch point, RFID Reader system. This was an amazing experience because I was able to be on the rollout team for this new and innovative program that both our cast members and guests were still learning.
I was also given the opportunity to take Disney College Program specific classes. This experience was the most rewarding part of my time with The Walt Disney Company. I quickly chose Disney Marketing and Disney Heritage. Each class was full of Disney history, and marketing techniques of the several branches of the company. This experience was extremely rewarding and taught me a lot about first hand business practices.
I would recommend The Walt Disney College Program to anyone in college. It's a fantastic learning and growing experience and I miss it dearly. Learn more here.
