Life Teen Summer Camps
Camp Photographer
After I graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.A. in Relational Communications, I took the summer off to volunteer at a Catholic summer camp in the beautiful town of Dahlonega, GA. During the 12 weeks I was at camp, I had the opportunity to take a variety of pictures to help document memories for thousands of campers who came through the beautiful natural environment of Camp Hidden Lake.
Each day I took 100's of photos of daily events including rock climbing, river tubing, messy games (they're exactly what they sound like), as well as spiritual moments including daily Mass, Adoration, and personal prayer. We were the first inhabitants of this land in five years; so much of our free time was spent in a mix of fun and labor as we prepared the camp back to working order. Since this was a new location for Life Teen Camps, we were also able to be on the development team for Life Teen Hidden Lake's Instagram and twitter pages.
My experience working for Life Teen Summer Camps was beautiful and challenging. Most of the week we had no cell phone service and mostly lived off the grid. At the end of the day I spent the nights editing (Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CS6) and uploading pictures to keep parents and friends in the loop of what was happening at Camp.
I really think this experience helped to prepare me for where I am today and wouldn't trade the friendships and memories I have for an immediate job out of college any day. To learn more about this fantastic organization, visit Life Teen's website.
